Kuje council chair backtracks on ‘support APC or leave’ comment

The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Danjuma Shekwolo, has clarified his previous statement that demanded residents support the All Progressives Congress (APC) or leave the council. His comment, made in a video, sparked criticism following his assertion that he wouldn't tolerate opposition from residents who had benefited from President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike's efforts.

Shekwolo clarified that the remark was taken out of context and did not represent the official position of his administration. He emphasized the importance of clarity, truth, and transparency in public governance, pointing out that his remarks were made during a meeting with APC youths and loyalists to discuss administrative efficiency, local development, and community welfare.

Shekwolo also clarified that he had no authority to disenfranchise residents based on their political affiliation and reiterated his administration's commitment to inclusive governance and the development of all communities in Kuje. He urged the residents, regardless of their political, religious, or ethnic affiliations, to support the council's development efforts.
