King Charles III to visit the Bahamas, Guyana, and Antigua and Barbuda this autumn

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to embark on a three-country tour of the Caribbean this autumn, kicking off on October 27 in the Bahamas. The royal couple will travel to the region for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, which commences on November 1 in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda's capital.

The Bahamas, one of the 14 countries outside the United Kingdom where Charles serves as head of state, will be the tour's first stop. Following this, Charles will visit Guyana, marking 60 years of bilateral relations between Britain and the South American nation. Guyana, formerly a British colony, gained self-governance in 1966 and achieved full independence as a republic in 1970.

As the symbolic head of the Commonwealth, an association comprising 56 independent countries, Charles will represent the group's shared interests. The Commonwealth includes major economic powers such as Australia, Canada, and India, alongside smaller island nations like Tuvalu in the South Pacific and the three Caribbean countries - Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, and Guyana, which the king will visit later this year.

The Commonwealth heads of government convene every two years to discuss shared challenges, enhance cooperation, and explore ways to promote development.
