Iran planned to assassinate Netanyahu's son Yair in Florida, report says, citing U.S. source

Israeli intelligence learned of a plot last December to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's eldest son, Yair, who was residing in Miami, Florida, according to a U.S. law enforcement source. The source informed Newsmax that Iranian operatives were reportedly present in the Miami area and had been tracking Netanyahu's residence and movements.

Yair Netanyahu, accompanied by Israeli security detail, was instructed to leave Florida immediately and return to Israel. He had been living in Hallandale Beach, near Miami. Netanyahu revealed on Monday that Iran had attempted to kill one of his sons, though he did not specify which one. He emphasized that security for his children is crucial, as they would succeed otherwise.

The Israeli military censor had initially barred the publication of information about the alleged plot for weeks, but Netanyahu's disclosure during a live interview surprised and continues to prohibit further details. Yair Netanyahu, a 35-year-old conservative political commentator, had previously changed his name to Yonatan Hun due to security concerns.

Iranian authorities have also been accused of making threats against other prominent individuals, including former U.S. national security adviser John Bolton, and President Donald Trump's family.
