India, China agree on early boundary delimitation push in new 8-point consensus

India and China have pledged to expedite discussions on "an Early and Substantial Harvest of boundary delimitation," according to a joint statement released after their 25th round of talks in Beijing. The two nations agreed to convene an expert-level mechanism on trans-border rivers in September and to continue sharing hydrological data.

Additionally, they committed to holding two more meetings between their General Level or Senior Highest Military Commanders in the Eastern and Middle Sectors of the border. The Expert Group on Boundary Delimitation and a Working Group on Border Management under the Consultation and Coordination Mechanism on Border Affairs were tasked with advancing these discussions.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas and fostering a healthy, steady development of bilateral relations. They also agreed to promptly address any situations on the ground through existing diplomatic and military channels to resolve outstanding issues and avoid misunderstandings.
