In blockbuster MLS move, Austin FC sells Owen Wolff for $7.6 million to Kansas City

Austin FC has parted ways with top player Owen Wolff, selling him to Kansas City Sporting for $7.6 million. Wolff, who was traded by his dad's club in 2024, had requested a move last winter. Austin FC received a $4.5 million upfront payment, with an additional $3.1 million possible if Wolff meets performance-based conditions. The club's interim coach, Davy Arnaud, stated that the decision was made in response to Wolff's desire to play elsewhere and to honor his wishes, provided the offer was commensurate with his quality and potential.

Wolff, 21, has struggled with injuries this season and has only made eight appearances, with no goal contributions. Austin FC also sold midfielder Jayden Nelson to Bolton Wanderers for $1.1 million and loaned forward CJ Fodrey to Falkirk.
