Man City's Gonzalez set for £52m Newcastle move
Newcastle United agree a deal worth up to £52m for Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez.
Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez is set to join Newcastle United for a fee of up to £52 million, reports suggest. The 24-year-old Spaniard completed his medical on Tyneside and expressed his excitement about joining the club, praising its atmosphere and fans. Newcastle's head coach, Matthias Jaissle, welcomed Gonzalez's arrival, highlighting his experience, defensive discipline, and ability to read the game.
Gonzalez, who previously spent a year and a half in the Premier League with Manchester City, is expected to bring valuable midfield experience to the Tyneside outfit. The signing comes after Newcastle lost several key players this summer, including Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon, and Kieran Trippier. Jaissle sees Gonzalez as a crucial addition to the squad, noting his exceptional ball-carrying ability, leadership, and high turnover rate in top European leagues.
