‘I’ll make naira stronger’ – Atiku insists on restoring fuel subsidy

African Democratic Congress presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar has pledged to bolster the value of the naira and enhance the standard of living for Nigerians if elected in 2027. The former vice president, speaking on his stance regarding the fuel subsidy, reiterated his commitment to reinstating targeted subsidies in a post on X. He emphasized that a prosperous country should not allow its citizens to endure hardships.

Atiku argued that Nigeria possesses sufficient resources to care for its populace. He contended that a nation's prosperity hinges not on government revenue but on the purchasing power of its citizens. The candidate demanded that wages regain their worth, enabling farmers to transport their crops without incurring transportation costs, and families to purchase essential goods without depleting their finances. He also advocated for businesses to thrive, create job opportunities, and foster growth.
