Hilman tak tolak kemungkinan Adun Bersatu Selangor sokong MB

Two Bersatu Selangor MLCs have not ruled out the possibility of supporting the ruling of the Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari until his term ends, according to Gombak Setia Adun Hilman Idham. He acknowledged that this is not an impossible prospect, considering Bersatu's prior cooperation with various political parties including Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH).

The basis is the interests of the people, he stated to FMT when asked if Bersatu Selangor would also back Amirudin's administration until his term concludes, similar to what their counterparts in Pahang have done. Meanwhile, Kuang Adun Rafiq Abdullah suggested there is a possibility for Bersatu Selangor representatives to take a similar approach as their Pahang counterparts.

"It is possible, but it depends on the top leadership," he said. Hilman, who is also the Bersatu Pemuda head, said Pahang might be the first step towards such an approach (supporting PH) even though PH has enough support to govern the state. In the PRN Selangor 2023, PH won 32 of 56 DUN seats while Perikatan Nasional (PN) secured 22 seats consisting of 12 Bersatu and 10 PAS.

BN won two seats. Earlier, two Bersatu Selangor MLCs in Pahang declared their opposition to the leadership of Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail until the next PRN. Adun Kuala Sentul Jasri Jamaludin and Adun Lepar Mohd Yazid Mohd Yunus, in a separate statement, said this stance has been approved by Bersatu top leadership, taking into account the need to ensure political stability in the state.

In a separate statement, Bersatu Deputy President Faizal Azumu said both MLCs have informed their party leadership of their desire to support Wan Rosdy and handed over the decision to the party. "The party's political bureau, led by Deputy President Muhyiddin Yassin, has discussed the matter from all angles and basically supports the move," he said.
