Heritage Christian University launches LLB programme with focus on practical legal education

Heritage Christian University (HCU) recently introduced its Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme through the newly founded Heritage School of Law, featuring a focus on practical legal education. This programme, centered around the motto "Learn the Law. Master Advocacy. Lead with Integrity," prepares students for diverse legal careers such as litigation, corporate practice, and international organisations.

Prof. Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua, the school's founding Dean, highlighted the integration of academic training with an entrepreneurial mindset and a commitment to expanding access to justice. Clinical legal education is a key component, providing students with hands-on experience while serving underserved communities. The curriculum includes elective courses like sports law, entertainment law, and health law, allowing students to align their studies with their interests and expertise.

French will also be introduced as a composite course, enhancing students' language skills for international opportunities. The university is also exploring multidisciplinary programmes and student mobility abroad. The law school is situated on HCU's campus in Accra, and graduates will be equipped for careers in corporate law, international organisations, NGOs, and other specialised areas.

HCU, a GTEC-accredited faith-based private university, aims to bridge the gap between academic legal education and professional practice.
