Google Pixel 11 Review: Why the base model is still my favorite, even this year

Over the past two weeks, I have tested and compared various phones, including the Google Pixel 11. This device offers a blend of luxurious features and compelling qualities that make it stand out. I found the Pixel 11 to be my favorite among the four models launched this summer. It features a Tensor G6 chip, an improved camera sensor, and more, but there isn't much new hardware compared to previous models.

The 6.3-inch AMOLED display on the Pixel 11 is quite appealing, particularly when it picks up the golden hour light from the living room window. Its design is symmetrical, with a 6.3-inch display and a combination of glass and matte-treated sides. The glossy back glass becomes grippier over time due to sweat buildup, making it less slippery than the matte finish on the Pixel 11 Pro models. This allows for comfortable one-handed use without a case.

Google has slimmed down the camera bar to nearly half its size from last year, making it even sleeker. The main sensor has been upgraded to improve light gathering, which is a significant improvement. The new HiLight feature is an LED indicator that pulses in various colors when you receive calls from favorited contacts or when you're chatting with Gemini. The new Magic Capture feature intelligently captures stills while recording a video, similar to a photographer assistant.

The Pixel 11 runs on the Tensor G6 processor and Android 17 software, matching the performance of the Pro models, with only minor differences in day-to-day performance. While the camera output may not be as vibrant as a Samsung phone, it still delivers satisfactory results, especially in low-light environments. Overall, the Pixel 11 is a strong choice for most people, offering a balance of features and performance at an affordable price of $899 for the 256GB storage configuration.
