Gonzalez ‘excited’ to join Newcastle from Man City

Nico Gonzalez, a 24-year-old Spanish midfielder, expressed his excitement about joining Newcastle United from Manchester City. The midfielder, who began his professional career at Barcelona, signed a long-term deal with Newcastle for up to £52 million, according to British media reports.

Gonzalez said he was "really happy to be here at this amazing club" and that he was "excited to live here and to be part of this project." He added that he "loves the black and white shirt already" and cannot wait to start wearing it on the pitch for Newcastle.

The former Spain under-21 international made nearly 60 appearances for Manchester City and has experience playing at St James' Park twice with the club. He said the atmosphere at St James' Park was amazing and passionate, and he is looking forward to experiencing that as a home player.

Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle welcomed Gonzalez's signing, stating that the midfielder brings "serious quality and elite experience in a key area of the pitch." Jaissle described Gonzalez as a "proven winner who has played at some huge clubs in Europe's top leagues, but he's also still young and hungry to develop further."

Gonzalez is Newcastle's seventh signing of the transfer window, following the arrivals of Bazoumana Toure, Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, Amar Dedic, Lukas Hornicek, and Ewen Jaouen. His arrival at St James' Park is a boost for the new manager, appointed following the resignation of Eddie Howe. Newcastle drew 2-2 at home to Liverpool in their Premier League opener last weekend.
