Gonzalez ‘excited’ to join Newcastle from Man City

Nico Gonzalez, a 24-year-old Spanish midfielder, expressed his excitement about joining Newcastle United from Manchester City, according to Newcastle's website. The Spanish player, who began his professional career at Barcelona, signed a long-term deal with Newcastle, with the club spending up to £52 million (US$71 million) on the transfer, as per British media reports.

Gonzalez, who made nearly 60 appearances for Manchester City, shared his enthusiasm about the club and the city, stating he is eager to live there and become part of the project. He also expressed his love for the black and white shirt and anticipation of wearing it in matches for Newcastle. Gonzalez noted his previous experience playing at St James' Park with Manchester City, describing it as tough but with an amazing and passionate atmosphere.

The Magpies' manager, Matthias Jaissle, welcomed Gonzalez, praising his serious quality and elite experience in a key area of the pitch. Jaissle highlighted Gonzalez's proven track record in top European leagues and his young age, which he believes makes him a fantastic addition to the team. This signing marks Newcastle's seventh transfer window addition, following the arrivals of Bazoumana Toure, Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, Amar Dedic, and goalkeepers Lukas Hornicek and Ewen Jaouen.
