Giants star Toby Greene opens up on his AFL future

Greater Western Sydney captain Toby Greene is considering his AFL future and has planned to meet with Geelong and Essendon, though he is not ready to commit to a move. The veteran player, who has been with the Giants since the club's inaugural season in 2012, has played 282 games for the team. Greene is set to make a decision in the coming weeks, but insists he has not made up his mind.

The 32-year-old, who has been close to finishing his career in Victoria for better support to his young family, acknowledged that this would be the toughest decision of his career. Greene denied he had already decided to leave GWS, stating that if he was definitely leaving, he would have informed the club. Former teammate Jeremy Cameron is expected to be a natural fit at Geelong, while Essendon is looking for senior players to help develop their young talent.

Greene's friend and former assistant Mark McVeigh, who has been appointed as the Bombers coach, has also reached out to Greene. The Giants missed the finals for the first time since 2022, with experienced players such as Jesse Hogan, Jake Stringer, and Kieren Briggs set to depart. Greene expressed his desire to win a premiership with the Giants, stating that winning one there would be the best thing he could do in football.
