General : PLUS Expects 2.2 Million Vehicles Per Day During National Day, School Holidays

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — Leading transportation company PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) anticipates a substantial surge in vehicle traffic of up to 2.2 million vehicles on its highways between August 28 and 31, and September 4 to 7. This increase is attributed to the National Day celebrations and the school holidays. To mitigate congestion, PLUS urges users to plan their journeys in advance using the MyPLUS-TTA (Travel Time Advisory) digital travel schedule available through the PLUS App.

This schedule is designed to distribute traffic and alleviate vehicle concentration during peak hours. The PLUS App also provides real-time traffic information, emergency assistance (SOS), incident updates, toll rates, rest area locations, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and other highway amenities to assist users in trip planning.

To prepare for the anticipated traffic, PLUS is ramping up staff at toll plazas and rest areas, enhancing PLUSRonda patrols, and utilizing the Traffic Monitoring Centre to monitor traffic conditions. Additionally, PLUS will activate the Smart Lane at 33 strategic locations to facilitate smooth traffic flow in high-congestion areas.

Users are reminded to heed Smart Lane signs, reduce vehicle speed when using the lane, and refrain from using the emergency lane outside designated Smart Lane activation points to avoid legal consequences. Collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), and relevant agencies is in place to swiftly address any highway incidents.

To accommodate the influx of users, PLUS has bolstered the maintenance of public facilities at rest areas and service stops, prioritizing cleanliness and comfort, including prayer rooms and toilets. The company also advises users to ensure their vehicles are in optimal condition and that their Touch ‘n Go card or e-wallet balance remains sufficient.

Users should remain vigilant about speed limits, maintain safe following distances, practice cautious driving, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving.
