From Johor to Sentul: Police arrest three more over racing stunt on Second Link

Kuala Lumpur, Aug 26 — The police have apprehended three more individuals in connection with an illegal racing incident that occurred on Aug 22, causing a blockage on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Expressway. The suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were arrested at around 1:30 am in a Sentul condominium parking lot, as reported by Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali.

All the suspects attempted to escape during their arrest but were apprehended by law enforcement. According to Ali, one suspect is suspected to be a race rider while the other two were spectators. The three arrested individuals have been transported to the Kulai Traffic Police Station in Johor for further investigation. The case is currently being handled under Section 42(1) and Section 81(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Muhammed Hasbullah emphasized that the authorities will continue to take stern measures against those involved in such illegal racing activities that pose a threat to road users. On August 24, the police had granted an eight-day remand for eight men, including a motoring influencer, who are also linked to the incident. The event gained widespread attention on social media after video footage surfaced, showing a group halting traffic to permit the participants in the race.
