Firefighters prevent petrol station blaze from spreading in Kano

A petrol filling station blaze in Kano has been successfully contained by firefighters, according to a statement released on Wednesday. The incident, which took place on Tuesday night, occurred at Tukur Muhammed Nigeria Limited, situated on Saya Saya Road in Rano Local Government Area. The Kano State Fire Service's Emergency Response Unit at the Rano Fire Station was alerted around 9:20 pm by the station manager, Abubakar Umar.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the fire ignited in a ground-floor building used for petrol filling. The blaze was traced to a Mikano generator, which affected the rear tyres of a CANTER vehicle, resulting in minor damage. The firefighters swiftly brought the situation under control, preventing the fire from spreading to other areas of the filling station.

The fire service attributed the incident to a generator fault. Director Alhaji Sani Anas called on the public to remain vigilant and take fire safety precautions, recommending functional fire extinguishers and adherence to fire safety measures at all times.
