Family announces Fidau, artists’ tribute for late actor Ogogo

The family of the late Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hasan, better known as Ogogo, has announced the final rites to honor their beloved colleague. Ogogo, a revered figure in the Yoruba film industry, passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66. His funeral took place on August 24, 2026, in Ilaro, Ogun State, following Islamic burial rites. Several notable figures from the entertainment world, including Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, Femi Adebayo, and others, were present at the burial ceremony.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, who announced the burial arrangements on behalf of the family, shared details of the remaining rites in a Facebook post on Wednesday. The first program to commemorate the late artist is the 8th-day Fidau Prayer, scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2026, at Ilaro. The second and final program, an Artists' Day, is set to be held 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.

The Artists' Day aims to celebrate the life and legacy of Ogogo through performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers, and other entertainers.

Kosoko expressed deep gratitude to the family, friends, and fans who attended the burial and extended an invitation to all well-wishers to join them in honoring Ogogo during this difficult time. The actor's death sparked tributes from colleagues and fans alike, who reminisced about his significant contributions to Yoruba-language cinema. Ogogo started his acting career in the early 1980s and went on to become a prominent figure in Yoruba Nollywood, working as an actor, producer, and filmmaker.
