DBKL to meet developer over Bandar Tasik Selatan parking, traffic woes

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) plans to meet the developer of a project in Bandar Tasik Selatan to address residents' concerns about parking and traffic issues in the area. DBKL acknowledged residents' worries about the impact of new developments on traffic flow and parking capacity. The city will discuss the construction of a five-storey parking facility with the developer, as previously decided.

Traffic management improvements will be approved based on the Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) findings. Recently, residents accused DBKL of breaking a promise regarding a proposed five-storey parking facility, which was reportedly reduced to just one storey. With approximately 6,500 to 7,000 residential units already in the area and another 8,000 units under construction, traffic congestion and parking shortages are expected to worsen.

DBKL stated that the development approval requires the developer to implement all traffic improvements and mitigation measures identified in a comprehensive assessment, such as upgrading intersections, widening roads, constructing a new slip road, and building an alternative road to MRR2. The city welcomes feedback from the local community and will continue engaging relevant stakeholders to find practical and balanced solutions.
