Chinese man questioned over alleged murder in Gyeongsan

GYEONGSAN — Police are questioning a Chinese man in his 30s over the alleged murder of a female graduate student, also from China, found dead in Gyeongsan, southeastern South Korea. The victim, a local university student in her 20s, was discovered deceased at the suspect's residence on Tuesday, five days after all communication with her had ceased and four days after she was reported missing by the man, according to Gyeongsan Police Station.

Jeong, the 30-year-old suspect, was apprehended on Tuesday while out on the city's streets and was detained at the police station on the same day. Authorities stated they intend to perform an autopsy to ascertain the precise cause and timing of the victim's death, after which the body will be handed over to the victim's family. Police have informed a relative currently residing in Korea of the student's demise. The suspect and the victim were acquaintances, according to those close to the victim.
