Chinese man questioned over alleged murder in Gyeongsan

GYEONGSAN, South Korea - Police are questioning a 30-year-old Chinese man on suspicion of murdering a female graduate student from China, according to local authorities. The victim, a university student in her 20s, was discovered dead at the suspect's residence in Gyeongsan, South Korea, on Tuesday. This came five days after all communication with the victim had ceased and four days after she was reported missing by the man, sources close to the investigation have revealed.

The suspect, whose surname is Jeong, was apprehended on a city street on Tuesday and taken into custody at the police station that same day. Police have stated plans to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and time of death. Following this, the victim's body will be transferred to her family.

A relative currently residing in South Korea has been informed of the student's death. The victim and the suspect were reportedly acquaintances, according to those close to the victim.
