Irish parents found dead by their children in Valencian home jacuzzi

The bodies of a 50-year-old and 45-year-old Irish couple were discovered by their 14-year-old and 15-year-old children in a jacuzzi at their family home in Cullera, Valencia, north of Gandia. The discovery was made on Tuesday evening, around 5pm. Neighbors alerted emergency services after the teens alerted them to the grim find. The emergency teams arrived at the scene and confirmed that both adults had died. Their bodies were removed from the property about 11.30pm, more than six hours after they were found.

The Civil Guard’s Judicial Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the unexplained deaths. Initially, there were no clear signs of violence, but investigators noticed some findings at the scene that seemed unusual. They are exploring several possibilities, including accidental death and possible drug consumption, but no official cause of death has been established yet. There has been no confirmation that drugs were involved, and the deaths have not been classified as homicide.

Sources close to the investigation have reported that the bodies showed injuries resembling puncture marks. Officers are examining whether those marks could be linked to drug use or if there is another explanation. Post-mortem examinations, along with toxicology tests and further police inquiries, are expected to shed light on the cause of death and the connection between the injuries and the couple's demise.

The two teenagers have additional needs and have been placed under the care of Cullera City Council’s social services. The investigation continues while they await the forensic and toxicological results. Until those findings are available, the precise circumstances surrounding the couple's deaths remain unknown.
