Barca reignite Osimhen interest – Report

Barcelona has rekindled its interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, following their unsuccessful pursuit of Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, according to a report by Todomercatoweb. The Spanish club now view Osimhen as a priority target, with an expectation that they will act soon, reported TeamTalk. Barcelona's sporting director Deco has intensified the club's efforts to secure the Nigerian, who was previously on Barcelona's shortlist as a fallback option during the summer.

Osimhen is deemed a more feasible option than Alvarez, offering a credible solution for Barcelona's attacking needs as the transfer window nears its end. The 27-year-old has started the new season in a similar manner to how he concluded the previous one, scoring four goals in Galatasaray's opening two Super Lig matches. He has contributed to 15 direct goals in 15 consecutive matches this season, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists from 37 appearances in all competitions.

This performance enabled Galatasaray to win the domestic double last season. Despite Galatasaray's insistence on retaining Osimhen, their stance appears to be under mounting pressure due to ongoing interest from top European clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Barcelona's management is actively working to finalize the signing before the transfer deadline expires.
