Amos Yee, 27, given 4 new charges in court, offered S$15,000 bail

Amos Yee, a 27-year-old convicted sex offender, was sentenced with four additional charges in court on August 26, following complaints over online content he published. The police received multiple reports between April and July 2026, leading to an investigation. In an Aug. 25 TikTok video, Yee stated that his bail could be revoked due to committing new crimes.

His bail was revoked, but he was offered S$15,000 bail, with his mother paying it. Yee appeared at the State Courts around 11am. When asked about his concerns regarding being separated from his family, Yee mentioned that they might be accustomed to such separations, as he has been arrested multiple times in the past. The racially divisive posts Yee made included statements in April 7 and April 11, criticizing the Malay-Muslim and Indian communities in Singapore for experiencing discrimination by the Chinese majority.

He also addressed the government's treatment of these communities and provoked protests against the government. In June 30, Yee posted that children could give consent to sexual acts and advocated for the abolition of laws governing the age of consent for such acts. These remarks were made in another blog post. The police issued an OCHA Disabling Direction (DD) to remove the video on X, which they followed.

For the remaining offensive content, Yee received a Stop Communication Direction to remove the existing posts on his personal blog. Yee is also set to plead guilty on September 7 to National Service enlistment offences, having been previously charged in March with three offenses related to his National Service obligations. In an interview outside the State Courts on April 23, Yee expressed that he would view any jail sentence as a business trip, stating that it is something he must do to ignite a political movement.
