Abu Dhabi drivers can keep seized vehicles at home for Dh15 per day

Abu Dhabi Police have announced a Smart Vehicle Seizure service allowing drivers to keep impounded cars at home for Dh15 per day. This innovative system, accessible via the Tamm platform or police service centers, employs a smart electronic device that alerts a monitoring room if the vehicle is moved or if service requirements are violated.

Drivers facing traffic violations can retain their cars at an approved location, rather than at a police facility. To utilize the smart service, drivers must visit the customer service center in person or appoint someone through a power of attorney, providing their Emirates ID and signing a declaration. The service covers both light and heavy vehicles, including lorries and buses, and applies to most traffic infractions.

Serious offenses, such as reckless driving and street racing, attract immediate impoundment and substantial fines, with vehicle release fees reaching Dh50,000 ($13,600). Other violations, like running red lights and driving without a valid license, also result in impoundment and penalties, including fines, points deductions, and temporary licence suspensions.
