조작기소특검법, “9월에 처리” “민생이 우선”…민주당의 난제

The Democratic Party within the party is divided over the timing and public disclosure rights for the Manipulation Special Investigation Act. The 6·3 local elections have led to delaying the processing of this law, making it a "hot potato" for the party. The Legislative-Bureaucracy Committee's member, Park Cheong-yeon, expressed that in her personal opinion, the processing should have been done earlier, and it should be done soon.

Following this, Lee Sung-jun's chief spokesman mentioned on the 24th that he personally believed it was appropriate to process the Special Investigation Act in September, when the regular National Assembly begins. While the chairman of the Policy Planning Committee, Guk Chil-sung, stated that the statement about September processing was merely a personal opinion and that the government's focus now was on solving pressing issues such as the housing problem before the possible Seoul mayor's primary election next year.

Other party officials also stated that the issue had not been discussed within the party leadership, and it would be prudent to prioritize immediate concerns like housing before handling this matter.
