4 from Pune stranded as floods wash away Nepal border post

At least 57 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu are stranded in Nepal following flash floods, according to available information. Despite a group of 21 reaching out for rescue, authorities are still working to locate the remaining pilgrims. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expressed shock over the situation and ordered for rapid and coordinated efforts to find and assist the stranded individuals.

A round-the-clock toll-free helpline number has been announced for family members to coordinate with officials. The pilgrims were part of a tour organized by a Kumbakonam-based company in partnership with a Nepal-based company. They were heading towards the Tibet border when the disaster occurred. Of the 21 pilgrims who reached out for help, 21 have now sought shelter at a Nepal border police outpost, while the status of the remaining pilgrims is yet to be ascertained.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has also announced round-the-clock toll-free helpline numbers for family members to reach out and coordinate with the authorities.
