A lawsuit was filed by the bereaved family against the city, claiming that the guidance given by a teacher at a junior high school in Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, in March 2018, led to the student's death. The plaintiff claimed that the guidance was given in a way that it was excessively strict and continued over a long period, and that the school failed to provide adequate support. The Fukuoka District Court on Wednesday ruled that the guidance was illegal and ordered the city to pay 66 million yen in compensation to the family. However, the court rejected the family's claim that the school could have predicted the student's suicide. The plaintiff and defendant are expected to discuss the details of the ruling. asahi.com
