Will Trent Season 5: Everything We Know (So Far)

Will Trent is set to return for a fifth season, beginning in early 2027 on ABC. The series was renewed following the May 5 finale, which dealt with the deaths of Deputy Director Amanda Wagner and Angie's husband, Dr. Seth McDale. By the time the finale concluded, Angie had begun to heal from her grief and embrace motherhood, while Will had spent a year helping raise their daughter, Edie, and both had returned to work.

However, their jobs were different from what they had been before Seth's death. Faith was leading a joint APD-GBI task force focused on a sex trafficking ring, with Angie, Ormewood, Franklin, and Will all involved. Season 5 production commenced on August 24 in Atlanta, Georgia. The premiere, titled "Wouldn't Want to Take My Work Home," is directed by Ramón Rodríguez, who previously directed the Season 3 and Season 4 premieres.

The showrunners are considering a time jump, with co-showrunner Liz Heldens stating that they are leaning towards starting the season close to where the finale left off.
