Wild Hornets launches production of new modules that will boost FPV drone range by 50%

Ukrainian MilTech company Wild Hornets has launched the serial production of a new HV VTX Pro video transmitter, which will increase the effective operating range of drones by up to 50% and enhance signal stability in electronic warfare situations. The HV VTX Pro module will be integrated into the Hornet Vision digital video transmission system, already in serial production and set to enter battlefield use soon. Despite the increased capabilities, the cost of drones for the Ukrainian military remains unaffected.

The technological upgrade more than doubles the maximum power of the VTX module to 4 W, significantly expanding the capabilities of both interceptor and strike FPV drones. With the new module, the maximum effective operating range of interceptor drones will grow from approximately 20 km to 30 km under favorable radio horizon conditions, and when using the omnidirectional 360-degree antenna equipped in Hornet Vision ground stations.

This range extension enables interceptor drones to engage targets flying at extremely low altitudes, potentially increasing interception effectiveness against such targets by at least 20%.

Currently, the HV VTX Pro module is installed on all of Wild Hornets' new drones equipped with night thermal imaging cameras. In the near future, the module will also be equipped on drones with daytime cameras. Wild Hornets is a Ukrainian MilTech company specializing in the development and production of unmanned systems. Their drones are utilized by over 100 units of Ukraine's Defense Forces, including the Armed Forces, National Guard, Special Operations Forces, Security Service of Ukraine, Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Air Force, and State Border Guard Service.
