VIDEO: Support APC or leave Kuje, council chairman threatens residents

The Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Shekwolo, has issued a warning to residents who do not back the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a video that has surfaced on social media, Shekwolo addressed his followers and constituents, stating that residents must either support the APC or leave the area council.

He emphasized the council's recent developmental efforts, crediting President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for their contributions. Shekwolo made it clear that residents who vote against the APC in 2027 would not be able to reap the benefits of these interventions. The comment has raised concerns about the use of political rhetoric by public officials as the country gears up for the upcoming elections.

This comes amid a recent controversy involving a senator who faced criticism for threatening members of the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The senator later denied advocating violence, clarifying that he meant the APC would defeat the Accord Party through the vote. The Kuje chairman's remarks have once again highlighted the potential for inflammatory statements to heighten tensions and infringe on citizens' right to choose their preferred political parties.
