US judge rejects Ghislaine Maxwell's 'frivolous' appeal against conviction

A US judge has dismissed Ghislaine Maxwell's latest attempt to overturn her sex trafficking conviction, labeling her claims as "frivolous" and "meritless." The 64-year-old is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in procuring young girls for the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, following her conviction in December 2021.

Maxwell had appealed against her five felony convictions, alleging that her constitutional rights had been violated. However, a New York judge quickly rejected the appeal, deeming it both lengthy and rambling in nature. Maxwell argued that recently released Jeffrey Epstein-related documents from the US Justice Department would support her claim of wrongful conviction.

Yet, the judge contended that these documents, in fact, incriminated her or confirmed the legitimacy of her conviction. Furthermore, the judge cautioned Maxwell against pursuing additional appeals, warning it would not be taken seriously by the court.
