[UPDATED] Amirudin to lead PH-BN cooperation talks for Melaka polls

Pakatan Harapan's election chief, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, has been tasked with exploring a possible collaboration between his party and Barisan Nasional in the upcoming Melaka polls, according to Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This decision was made following a meeting between Amirudin and Anwar on Sunday.

Anwar, speaking after attending a national-level Maulidur Rasul celebration, emphasized the importance of cooperation, stating that there should always be room for collaboration in life. Amirudin had previously announced his intention to meet Anwar on August 23 to discuss the potential partnership between PH and BN for the Melaka election.

Additionally, the PH communications director, Fahmi Fadzil, confirmed that Amirudin had already met Anwar as part of ongoing discussions between the two coalitions regarding seat allocations for the state election. Earlier this week, Anwar revealed that the election committee led by Amirudin and his secretary-general, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, would deliberate on the possibility of cooperation with BN for the Melaka polls.

Saifuddin had previously hinted at the possibility of meeting Melaka BN chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh to discuss cooperation prior to the state election. Ab Rauf was scheduled to return from a working visit to New Zealand, which could facilitate a meeting to discuss potential collaboration.
