Undertrial Govt Officer Found With Woman During KSLSA Inspection At Mandya Hospital - VIDEO

A Karnataka government officer, Mahamad Hussain, an Assistant Director of Land Records in survey supervision, was discovered with a woman in a hospital ward during an unexpected inspection by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) on Monday evening. Hussain had been admitted to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) Hospital since August 21 for treatment of back pain, a condition that appeared not to warrant his medical care.

The inspection team discovered Hussain and the woman in the same hospital room, with no court permission for his admission. Hussain was arrested in July by the Lokayukta in relation to alleged irregularities at the Srirangapatna Taluk Land Records office and was remanded to judicial custody. The Karnataka Director General of Prisons, Alok Kumar, stated that Hussain was referred to MIMS by a prison doctor and admitted upon an orthopaedic doctor's recommendation.

The district police were responsible for escorting the prisoner, but action was being taken against the escort team over alleged procedural lapses. The Mandya District Prison Superintendent had delayed informing the court about Hussain's hospital admission, leading to an inquiry into this lapse. Hussain has since been returned to judicial custody, and the Lokayukta accused him of illegally entering the land records office and assisting in land demarcation, digitization of records, and creation of fake documents using government software.
