UK prime minister plans to visit U.S. in September, aims to convince Trump on need to support Kyiv – media

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, alongside other European leaders, is set to journey to the United States in September to discuss the supply of missiles for Patriot systems to Ukraine, according to Bloomberg. The purpose of this visit is to persuade President Donald Trump to provide Ukraine with access to their stockpiles of Patriot air defense missiles before the onset of winter, as reported by the agency.

Burnham expressed his anticipation for the trip to New York in September, as revealed in an interview with the news source.

Upon further inquiry, Burnham confirmed his intention to visit the U.S., following a recent conversation. He emphasized that European leaders are contemplating organizing an additional meeting of the Coalition of the Willing during the UN General Assembly to secure American interceptor missiles and arrange supplies from various nations.

Burnham believes that additional European countries must intensify their support for Ukraine. He suggested that other influential players could contribute to the solution, indicating that the resolution will likely entail multiple layers and negotiations.

In the past, Burnham had visited Kyiv, where he presided over the inaugural meeting of the Coalition of the Willing and engaged in a bilateral discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
