Two men drown while swimming in Twiga Dam in Juja

Two men tragically drowned while swimming in Twiga Dam, located in Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County, on Monday afternoon. Police discovered the bodies upon their arrival, alongside mountain bikes, a tablet, and other personal items scattered along the shore. The exact causes of their drowning remain under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest the men were overwhelmed by water waves.

The deceased, identified as Emmanuel Mwendwa Kilonzi Kamba, 24, and Kennedy Mburu Kikuyu, 26, had traveled from the Roysambu area of Kasarani to the dam before their untimely demise. Police and forensic officers meticulously documented the scene before transferring the bodies to the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation until postmortem examinations could be conducted.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident occurring on the same day, a 59-year-old man drowned after falling into Nyakibai Stream in Gatundu North, Kiambu County. Michael Kithaka Kioo, a resident of Mariani-ini village, was reported missing by family members, last seen around midday as he headed towards the Muchakai area where a burial was scheduled for the following day.

Police suspect that Kithaka may have accidentally fallen into the stream while attempting to cross a temporary log footbridge, leading to his drowning. Ongoing investigations are being carried out to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the man's death.
