Tuba murder: Court adjourns case to September 28, as police prepare to forward docket to AG

The Adabraka District Court has postponed its hearing until September 28 for a case involving two brothers accused of murdering 54-year-old car dealer, Rahman Mohammed, and his wife, Christiana Fosu, at Beach Drive Estate in Tuba, near Weija. Adams Adder Almeida, an aspiring musician, and Bala Bilyon, Mohammed's employee, are both charged in connection with the incident, in which Mohammed was shot multiple times and Christiana suffered a gunshot wound to her shoulder.

The court did not grant the plea for the charged of conspiracy to commit murder. Almeida faces additional charges of murder and attempt to commit murder.

During the court proceedings on August 24, Chief Inspector Apewah Achana led the prosecution and informed the court that the police are compiling all necessary procedures before forwarding the docket to the Attorney General's Office for advice. The Inspector requested a rescheduling of the hearing date. Mohammed and Christiana Fosu resided at Beach Drive Estate, while Almeida and Bilyon lived together in a rented apartment nearby.

On August 6, 2026, Mohammed and his wife went for an evening walk and returned home around 9:30 p.m. Almeida allegedly followed them and shot both victims from behind using a pistol. Mohammed received gunshot wounds to his head and neck, while Christiana was shot in her left shoulder. Upon discovering the attack, police found the victims lying in a pool of blood and transported them to Finney Hospital, where Mohammed was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Christiana was subsequently taken to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment. The body of Mohammed was sent to the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy. According to the prosecution, the accused individuals were apprehended following intelligence-led investigations. They stated that Almeida confessed to the crime and revealed that Bilyon had been complaining about Mohammed's derogatory comments and mistreatment at work.

The investigators claimed that Almeida led police officers to retrieve the pistol used in the attack from Bilyon's room at Beach Drive Estate, where it had been concealed under a wardrobe. CCTV footage revealed that Almeida had been monitoring Mohammed's movements around 3:30 p.m. on August 6, capturing him following the couple and later shooting Mohammed three times and firing one shot at Christiana.
