The Witcher 3 is 11 years old, and CD Projekt Red still has remasters and expansions to keep us hooked

Nearly a decade after purchasing his initial gaming laptop, the Witcher 3 captured the reporter's imagination and provided hours of immersion in the fantasy world. After completing the main story and DLCs, the reporter eagerly anticipated the upcoming remastered version, which would be free for existing owners and launched on September 29.

At Gamescom Opening Night Live, the studio unveiled the remastered edition, which brought enhanced visuals and improved gameplay elements such as combat, movement, and monster behavior. Additionally, the remastered version included the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. The reporter expressed excitement for the remastered game, as it provided a much-needed mechanical refresh to the original title.

The studio also revealed Songs of the Past, a full-scale expansion set to release in 2027, taking Geralt to a brand new region called Letten, which is also Dandelion's homeland. The expansion promised a completely new region, quests, characters, and story, described as the final chapter of The Witcher 3. The reporter noted that CD Projekt Red had been specific in describing Songs of the Past as an expansion rather than DLC, emphasizing the major addition of new stories, characters, and hours of gameplay.

With The Witcher 4 set for release in 2028 and Ciri taking over as the protagonist, the reporter was eager to explore what CD Projekt Red had in store for fans in the meantime.
