Thane: Nandivli Lake In Kalyan Gets Deep-Cleaning Makeover After Month-Long Drive To Remove Waste And Nirmalya

Kalyan East witnessed a significant cleanliness improvement at Nandivli Lake after a month-long deep-cleaning operation. The initiative, a collaboration between Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Kalyan Varkari Samaj, Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) sanitation workers, and Sumit Alcoplast Pvt. Ltd., aimed to eliminate waste and rejuvenate the lake and its surroundings.

The cleanup process involved the removal of a considerable amount of waste, including coconuts, religious offerings, nirmalya, and litter dropped by lake visitors and passersby. All collected waste was transported away from the premises by employees of Sumit Alcoplast for proper disposal, ensuring there was no residual pile-up around the lake.

The campaign was heavily driven by Mrityunjay Shukla, the chief of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Kalyan city, who actively participated throughout the month-long effort. His involvement was instrumental in maintaining the momentum of the cleaning operation, garnering appreciation from those involved.

Post-cleanup, the lake's surroundings now present a cleaner and more appealing view. The organizers and civic authorities have urged the public to aid in maintaining the lake's cleanliness by avoiding the disposal of religious waste or any other litter into the waterbody. They emphasized the collective responsibility in preserving public water resources, urging citizens to respect religious sentiments while practicing environmentally friendly habits.
