Surekha, Chinna Reddy may face axe over ‘indiscipline’

Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and Telangana State Planning Board Vice-Chairman G. Chinna Reddy may face removal from their positions over allegations of indiscipline, according to sources within the Congress government. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee's disciplinary committee, led by MP Mallu Ravi and senior leader Shyam Mohan, has completed its internal inquiry and submitted a report recommending their resignation.

The committee examined the leaders' responses to showcause notices and other material available to it. Neither leader was summoned before the committee. The party's high command, including AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, is expected to review the report and consult Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy before making a final decision.

The disciplinary committee took a serious view of Ms. Surekha's conduct, citing multiple controversies that damaged the party's image, as well as her refusal to express regret over certain incidents. Mr. Chinna Reddy was criticized for allegations against Wanaparthy MLA Tudi Megha Reddy, which embarrassed the party and questioned the authority of the AICC.

The final decision on their fate will be made by the Congress high command after considering the views of the State leadership.
