Sunday Igboho, residents foil police arrest of Tani Olohun in Oyo

Yoruba Nation advocate, Sunday Igboho, stepped in on Tuesday to prevent police from arresting Tani Olohun, an Isese practitioner in Ibadan, Oyo State. Footage shared online showed a struggle as officers tried to detain Olohun, who resisted the arrest. Residents claimed the police were impostors, not genuine law enforcement, and that they intended to kill Olohun.

One officer displayed his badge, but the resident labeled it a "lie" and denied their status as police. Another video captured police attempting to take Olohun away, with residents pleading for help. Olohun's family then contacted Igboho, who arrived with supporters. Live videos showed Igboho conversing with a senior official on the phone, stating that four officers were involved in the arrest attempt.

Igboho later handed the phone to an officer. The incident occurred amid a criminal case filed by the Ilorin Heritage Preservation Foundation against Olohun for allegedly posting a video that mocked an Islamic prayer and could incite religious tension. The Oyo State Police Command declined to comment on the arrest attempt, stating that a press release would be issued soon.
