Sifuna: Ruto should be jailed over 2022 election broken promises

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has accused President William Ruto of obtaining power through false pretences and argues that Ruto should face consequences over broken promises made to Kenyans ahead of the 2022 election. The Senator expressed his concerns while campaigning for the Linda Mwananchi movement in Nairobi, stating that Ruto used the "Hustler" and "Bottom-Up" campaigns to secure his position but failed to deliver on the promises he made to voters.

Sifuna firmly believes that obtaining power through false pretences is an offence for which Ruto should be jailed.

The opposition leader declared that the opposition has settled on a new rallying call for the 2027 General Election, declaring that "William Ruto, One Term" will be the new campaign slogan. Sifuna believes that Ruto's slogan during his successful 2022 presidential campaign was the source of inspiration for the new statement. He further accused Ruto of misleading Kenyans regarding the Hustler Fund, which was initially presented as a grant for small businesses but was later turned into a loan that needed to be repaid.

Sifuna also highlighted Ruto's failure to fulfill his promises made to women, including pledges on representation in government. He questioned the government's health reforms, demanding that Ruto prove that the Social Health Authority (SHA) has ended the need for Kenyans to raise money for medical bills. Sifuna remains patient and requests that Ruto hold the Bible and declare the end of hospital harambees.
