Serena Williams, Carlos Alcaraz rally for dominant win in superstar mixed doubles pairing at US Open

Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz teamed up in mixed doubles to deliver a dominant 5-3, 4-1 victory over Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool at the US Open. The first-round match took place at Arthur Ashe Stadium, with a packed crowd cheering on the tennis superstars. Routliffe and Glaspool initially took early leads in the first set, but Williams and Alcaraz quickly responded by breaking their opponents' serve in the tiebreak to make the score 3-3.

The pair solidified their control in the second set, winning five out of the final eight games. This win marked Williams' first appearance at Arthur Ashe Stadium since her pre-retirement singles match in 2022.

Alcaraz, meanwhile, returned to competitive tennis after a wrist injury sidelined him from Wimbledon and the French Open. The two-time and reigning US Open champion is currently favored to win the men's singles tournament, but for now, he'll continue playing mixed doubles alongside Williams.
