Carlos Alcaraz Says He Did Whatever Serena Williams ‘Told Me to Do’ During Mixed Doubles Run at US Open

Carlos Alcaraz, a 23-year-old Spanish tennis player, teamed up with Serena Williams for mixed doubles at the 2026 US Open. The match took place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. Williams, who returned to the US Open after a four-year absence, is known as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Alcaraz, who had not competed since April due to a wrist injury, admitted to feeling nerves but credited Williams for helping him enjoy the experience.

The duo won their opening match, defeating Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool 5-3, 4-1, and advanced to the quarterfinals. However, their run ended when they lost to Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli 5-4 (4), 4-1. Despite their relatively short stay in the tournament, Williams will have another opportunity to compete in doubles as she and her sister Venus secured a wild-card entry on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
