Self-reliance driving Rwanda’s governance and service delivery — Paul Kagame

Rwandan President Paul Kagame has attributed the nation's advancements in governance and public service delivery to a strong commitment to self-reliance. During a press conference, he emphasized that self-reliance should extend beyond technological advancements and system development to encompass governance and national development.

On social media, President Kagame posted that self-reliance applies in various aspects, not only in technology and systems. He noted that Rwanda has achieved remarkable results in governance and service delivery despite having limited resources, sparking curiosity about the methods employed. "In Rwanda, there are many things we have accomplished in governance and service delivery," President Kagame stated.

"Some might question how a poor country could achieve this. The answer lies in our mindset of self-reliance." He encouraged countries to effectively utilize the resources at their disposal, arguing that possessing abundant resources does not guarantee development. "Do whatever you can within your means. There are people with means who fail to deliver," he added.

According to the Rwandan Presidency, President Kagame believes that the approach taken to tackle national issues is more critical than the size or resource base of a country. "It's a matter of how you approach the problem, regardless of size," he explained. "Rwanda, despite being one of the smallest countries globally, continues to seek solutions within our means and implement them."

His comments underscore Rwanda's focus on domestic responsibility, efficient resource utilization, and locally driven approaches to governance and development.
