Sejong Institute Korean test expands nationwide as demand grows

The King Sejong Institute Foundation will conduct its 13th Sejong Korean Language Assessment on September 19 at 14 testing centers spread across seven cities and provinces, expanding opportunities for foreign learners in South Korea. Applications opened Monday morning and will be accepted until September 6 at 11:59 p.m. via the Sejong Korean Language Assessment website.

The foundation launched the assessment domestically for the first time this year, following only overseas administrations, and this September test will mark the second time it is being held in Korea, with the June session serving as the initial domestic administration. The number of testing locations has risen from five to 14, reflecting the growing demand for Korean-language proficiency testing among foreign learners residing in Korea.

The Sejong Korean Language Assessment evaluates communication skills in four key areas: listening, reading, writing and speaking. The results are being utilized as eligibility criteria for admission, graduation and major selection by international students at prestigious universities such as Korea University, Yonsei University and Ewha Womans University, according to the foundation.
