Saudi Arabia Launches Digital Student ID Cards With QR Codes for the First Time

Saudi Arabia has introduced digital student ID cards with QR codes, marking a first in the country's move towards digital education services ahead of the upcoming academic year. The Ministry of Education rolled out these new services through its Unified Education Portal, a unified digital platform that consolidates academic activities, communication tools, and administrative services.

This digital transformation allows students, parents, and teachers to access school-related services online, eliminating the need for physical visits to schools for routine academic and administrative tasks. The portal enables students and parents to monitor homework, periodic tests, and other assignments, keeping families informed about academic progress throughout the year.

Additionally, the platform features a messaging feature that facilitates direct communication between parents and teachers, streamlining the process of addressing routine queries and follow-ups online. A crucial component of this digital system is the official digital identification card issued to each student, containing essential personal and academic information such as the student's name, nationality, identity number, school, and grade level.

The card also features a QR code that allows authorized entities to verify the student's details electronically when necessary. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to enhance digital education services nationwide, as announced by the Ministry of Education.
