RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Arrives In US To Attend Universal Oneness Celebration In New York

Washington, August 25: The Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, has arrived in the United States to participate in a significant Hindu gathering in New York City. The Universal Oneness Celebration, which will promote unity, civic responsibility and global harmony, is set to take place on August 29. Mr. Bhagwat was greeted by members of the Universal Oneness Celebration team prior to the event, according to the organizers.

The gathering aims to emphasize the importance of recognizing the bonds that connect humanity and fostering mutual respect, harmony and oneness, the organizers stated.

The Universal Oneness Celebration is being organized by the American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD) Forum, in collaboration with numerous cultural, spiritual, service, faith and community organizations across the United States. Organizers described this as one of the largest and most diverse Hindu community gatherings held in the country. It is scheduled to coincide with the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan.

Mohan Bhagwat, who has been serving as the RSS Sarsanghchalak (Chief) since 2009, is expected to deliver a speech that is anticipated to garner attention both in India and the United States. Notably, Mr. Bhagwat rarely speaks at large public events in America. The programme will also feature faith-based speakers and cultural presentations that align with the central theme of unity and harmony.

The celebration comes in light of the growing relevance of issues such as social cohesion, pluralism, civic participation, and interfaith understanding in the United States.

Central to the event will be the ancient Indian concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which translates to "The World Is One Family." Organizers intend to present this idea as a framework for addressing contemporary challenges through dialogue, mutual respect, shared responsibility, and service. The programme aims to bring together individuals from diverse linguistic, regional, cultural, and organizational backgrounds.

This will demonstrate how a pluralistic community can unite around common values while preserving its diversity. The New York gathering will extend this message to emphasize a shared responsibility in protecting and caring for communities, nations, humanity, nature, and all creation.
