Root 'hacked off' and 'disappointed' at Carse incident

Carse, 31, was dropped from the squad for the upcoming second Test against Pakistan after being involved in an altercation outside a bar on Saturday night. Root, while speaking to the media at Lord's, said he was "hacked off" and "disappointed" that the team was being distracted from their focus on the field by such incidents.

The ECB has referred the matter to the Cricket Regulator, and Carse has been replaced in the squad by Sonny Baker. Root also mentioned speaking to Carse about the incident, noting that his teammate was "very upset, very apologetic and understands his actions." However, Root emphasized that the issue was not solely the incident itself, but rather the continuous pattern of "stupid mistakes" away from the game that were detracting from the team's performance.
