‘Hacked off’: Joe Root fumes about Brydon Carse nightclub incident

England cricket captain Joe Root expressed his frustration over the recent incident involving Brydon Carse, describing himself as "hacked off" and disappointed. The video footage shown to Root showed Carse handcuffed by local police outside a nightclub in Derby last Saturday. Following the video, Carse was dropped from the England team ahead of the second Test against Pakistan, which starts on August 27 at Lords.

This makes Carse the third England player to be dropped this year after fellow players Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were also dropped for curfew violations and brawls. Root stated that he had spoken with Carse, who was apologetic about the incident and understood his actions. The ECB has confirmed that the Cricket Regulator will investigate the events that transpired on Saturday night in Derby, and Carse will not be available for selection for the remaining Test matches against Pakistan while the investigation is ongoing.

Root emphasized that incidents like these are not isolated and are distracting the team from their focus on the field.
