Ramiz Raja addresses Imran Khan situation: ‘It has been a tough one for him’

Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja spoke on the challenging situation faced by former captain Imran Khan in a recent podcast. Khan, who led Pakistan to their first World Cup victory in 1992, served as Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022 before being removed from office and sentenced to multiple prison terms. "He is in isolation, and he has a lot of fans, but the poor guy has been behind bars for three years now.

It has been tough for him," Raja said during an appearance on the Stick To Cricket podcast. A week ago, Khan reportedly had an eye problem that seems to have been resolved, but otherwise, he remains in good spirits. On Sunday, a letter signed by 22 former captains, such as Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar, was delivered to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, urging for improved healthcare for Khan.

This letter followed a similar appeal from 14 former captains a few months prior, expressing concerns over Khan's condition, including an alleged eye ailment that left him nearly blind in one eye. The letter emphasized that Khan's family claimed he faced medical neglect while in prison. Recently, Pakistan's Supreme Court ordered Khan's transfer to a hospital for a medical examination involving his personal physicians and his sister, Dr. Uzma Khan, as well as reinstating weekly family visits.

However, Khan's hospital stay was brief, and he was deemed medically fit by a state-appointed team before completing the Court's directives. Consequently, Khan was returned to Adiala Jail before the board could finish its examination. Kapil Dev restated his support for Khan, calling on him to receive proper treatment as a former prime minister and world-class cricketer.
